Fashion in Rwanda and Africa is obviously growing as first as you can think of. The turn up of local and foreign models at Kigali Fashion Week casting on Sunday afternoon, clearly displayed how elegant and classy the industry has turned into.

The highly attended fashion casting show was staged with the aim of picking out models (boys and girls) who will be acting in Kigali Fashion Week’s show scheduled for June 18th to 24th, 2016.

The casting, which took place at Kigali Fashion Week premises on Sunday, brought together experienced and talented models from 15 countries and the casting saw models give the judges a hard time to choose the best.

About hundred models took part in the casting fighting for the chance to be among the 60 wanted for the Kigali Fashion Week’s wish list for the June show.

John Bunyeshuli, the Head of Kigali Fashion Week, said the models were well prepared before coming to auditions and insists almost all of them displayed class and elegance and thus deserved to be selected if it weren’t for the limited number of wanted models.

“The casting was attended by a lot of models from different countries. This shows that the fashion industry is growing and the auditions have passed so well that that everyone who participated deserved a spot in the wanted list because of how prepared they were,” he said after the casting.

According to the schedule, selected models will first get a two-day modeling workshop before meeting the invited international designers who they will be representing in different fashion promotions to come.

There will also be the fitting and trial sessions for models and designers before the winners are unveiled at the Grand Finale slated for June 24 at Century Park Hotel, Nyarutarama.
